Macho Names??

I was talking to a good friend the other day who is pregnant. She is having a boy but is struggling with boy names. She wants a real strong masculine name but feels like most names are now ambiguous of the sex. It does make sense.

When I was a kid I never knew a female Ryan but there are plenty now. So I have been racking my brain trying to think of macho names.

Jack Bauer – I tried to talk my wife into using this name. Sure we had a girl so it didn’t matter but come on great macho name.

Chuck Norris? – not sure you can name you kid Chuck and not expect mass amounts of teasing.

Then I thought how about picking non traditional names like:

Hurricane: how cool of name is that. Super Macho
Rock: yeah makes me think WWE too
Grizzly: this would be an awesome name for this boy. Trust me.

You could go superhero names. I am sure they may be trending.

Thor: you would have to let him grow his hair out.
Hawkeye: okay not really a super hero.
Scooby: okay not super macho or super hero but not feminine.

So many struggles and no success. Although I have been saving a name. The name my wife and I decided upon if we had a son and since I am almost 40 a biological son isn’t the most promising. Ready?? Drumroll??

Nathan – traditional & masculine. You my good friend are welcome to it. That or Grizzly.

LOL love your suggestions. One of our sister’s friends named her boy Bleddyn (pronounced ble-vin) which is Welsh for Wolf. Grizzly’s a good one. It worked for Grizzly Adams. And that guy hung out with bears.

  2. You are the same age as my husband… You still have time to use Nathan. P.S. Grizzly is the number one recommended name to me. I wonder why?

    • Old man huh. We are actually planning on looking at adoption which means we would lose the naming privilege.

Humm wonder why Grizzly. Something to do with its machoness?? Your last name possibly??

How about any Biblical Male name? They’re usually not popularly feminized. Mathew, Mark, Luke and John are solid.

If all else fails: Mohammad is a good one. There are a LOT of people ready to defend the masculinity of that name. Or so we’ve learned from recent TV coverage from the Middle East.

Also, there’s “Ron” – as in Ron Jeremy. A great full name unlikely to be confused for female? Ron Jeremy Johnson.

    Jus’ Sayin’…

    Best of luck!
