With no school today (in memory of the great Martin Luther King, Jr.) my daughter and wife were home for my lunch. My daughter has reached the age that she loves playing games. The game of the day is “Old Maid”.
Playing “Old Maid” with a six-year old shouldn’t be challenging. For the whole first game my daughter showed me half her hand and made sure I kept drawing the Football Player. We were playing another hand and my wife mentioned “Do you notice that she picks the same card every time?”
Sure enough she did. The first card again and again and again. We get down to the very end and I slide the Old Maid over to the spot she has picked over and over. What does she do?
She moves right past the Old Maid and picks the middle card giving her the win. I was sharked! Hoodwinked! My 6 year old was playing me. Guess I am the “Old Maid”.
